Covid-19 is moving fast across the globe. Developing nations have few defenses against the virus since most citizens of these countries live hand to mouth, which makes quarantining virtually impossible, and the risk of spreading the virus very high. A mask can limit the spread of the disease from an infected person. The effect is greatest when masks are used along with hand hygiene and social distancing.
Our team at OCI is working to employ local tailors, source materials, create a communication campaign, and distribute masks for free to the community. Our goal is to begin production of 3-layer, washable, reusable masks and to distribute them to the most vulnerable in the community we serve.
Each mask will cost approximately $1 including labor, materials, and distribution costs.

OCI promotes sustainable development by providing education, nutrition and technology programs in combination so that they really work to enhance teaching, learning and opportunity. Through our programs and partnerships, we teach and promote innovation, problem solving, collaboration, and the development of strong personal values and work ethic within the community. OCI provides access to resources and partnerships that support our programming.

OCI’s work enables teachers and students to develop the skills needed to use technology and the innovation process to enhance learning and access information that supports problem solving.
OCI’s work promotes values that will in the long-term build the character and personal leadership capacity of young people by educating, empowering, and engaging them to grow into actively responsible citizens through a series of character-building lessons based on experiential learning and emotional intelligence principles.
